Framed: Cornish Tinned Pilchards Original artwork
A beautiful original framed artwork handmade by Cornwall based artist Ruth Proudfoot Smith. This original celebrates her original tinned fish idea and design showing quirky Cornish pilchards, housed in a part opened tin. Ruth has depicted the distinctive colouring using layers of translucent plastic packaging, lemonade bottle coverings, Twix packets and plastic bag food nets. The free machine-stitching technique adds gold/silver details and a hand-drawn style to the fish scales. The image has been gradually built up from layers of heat-fused plastics.

All designs are individually made and hand printed, therefore may vary slightly from product to product. I source materials from my immediate locality here in the South West, including using good local printers and framers.
My original and large framed prints are housed in environmentally recycled material using locally-sourced 'Polcore' moulding. I am endeavouring to use 90% recycled packaging from pre-used sources. As my business grows, so will my compostable boxing and wrapping.
