Framed: Common Seal original artwork
A beautiful original framed artwork handmade by Cornwall based artist Ruth Proudfoot Smith. This square original celebrates this friendly creature native to the North Cornish coast. The image also shows a swirling seaweed and mermaid's purse. Ruth has depicted the distinctive colouring using plastic Sainsbury's and Coop packaging and added white threads to capture the whiskers. The free machine-stitching technique adds details and a hand-drawn style to the image. The details have been gradually built up from layers of heat-fused plastic packaging.

All designs are individually made and hand printed, therefore may vary slightly from product to product. I source materials from my immediate locality here in the SouthWest, including using good local printers and framers.
My original and large framed prints are housed in environmentally recycled material using locally-sourced 'Polcore' moulding. I am endeavouring to use 90% recycled packaging from pre-used sources. As my business grows, so will my compostable boxing and wrapping.
